I would sort of almost kind of prefer if 'moving up in the ranks' is more indicative of IC shenanigans and less indicative of spamming posts to get currency. It's weird if a gang member or enforcer or something is ICly doing stuff that makes their superiors angry, yet they have enough gems that they magically get promoted because OOCly they made enough posts to buy it.

I'm usually not thrilled about monetary systems in forum roleplays to begin with, so my suggestions would be limited. I'm also a new member, so that limits me even more! However, maybe this is an idea;

You have a thread on bans on characters, yes? While none are banned yet, I imagine some roles may be banned in the future. If you have enough other items to buy in the marketplace to warrant this being an actual choice of what to buy, maybe you could add in a "Buy any (currently) banned character role" option? For the people who don't want to wait for it to be un-banned or are afraid it will never be un-banned.

I feel like that would piss off new players, but a monetary system's bound to piss some people off anyway <.<

EDIT: I have an idea! Maybe with gems you could also bypass the "2:1 Fae/Human" ratio when you make characters? I think that could be made fair if you made it expensive enough that it warrants making other purchases harder to achieve because you're not willing to play 2 faes or 1 human yet you want to make more characters, so it gives them an alternative that's harder to achieve. At the same time, it makes bypassing that ratio not that easy. Just a thought, I doubt I'll ever have more than 2 characters anyway at one time ;n;
